Being part of Class 33 of the Town of Gilbert Leadership Program has been one of the most enriching experiences I’ve had—and last week took it to a whole new level. Literally.
I had the incredible opportunity to take a helicopter ride over some of Arizona’s most breathtaking scenery, including the historic Theodore Roosevelt Dam. It was my first time flying in a helicopter, and while the views were unforgettable, what stood out most was the feeling: soaring above the Valley and seeing our communities from a completely different perspective.
Moments like these remind me why I joined this program in the first place. It’s about leadership—but also about service, collaboration, and learning how our town works from the inside out. From firefighter training and police simulations to now flying high over the terrain we call home, each experience has stretched me in the best ways.
Seeing Gilbert from above reminded me of the potential we have right here in our backyard. The growth, the natural beauty, the people—it’s all part of something bigger, and it’s a privilege to be more connected to it all.
If you’ve ever been curious about getting more involved in the community, I can’t recommend this program enough. You’ll learn about everything from public safety to city planning, while also building lasting relationships with others who care deeply about Gilbert’s future.
